WHY BUY DIRECT?
Buying direct is the best way to support small businesses and bypass large corporations.
When you buy directly from an author, you support their writing. Subscription services like Kindle Unlimited have limitations for both authors and readers. With Kindle Unlimited, readers can only borrow a few books at a time and are unable to keep them—which can be frustrating for re-reading favorite books!
When buying direct, you own your book!
When a book is accessible through Kindle Unlimited, authors are restricted from offering it on any other platforms, such as Barnes & Noble, Apple, Kobo, or Google Play. This also includes selling it directly from their own website. And that's something I’m not comfortable with.
Book retailers have been reliable business partners for me throughout my career. However, there are some things that can happen to authors that are completely out of our hands. For example, Amazon has been known to suddenly terminate author accounts without warning or valid reason. It's a terrifying thought. And the main reason why I started my shop!
